Out Of Bounds

Munich 2024 | Alexander Ratzing

17.01.2024 Faculty of Design, Hochschule München

On this planet, almost everything is designed by humans for humans. The houses we live in, the streets we walk on, and the places where we go to school, work, shop, exercise, and meet friends. Even the fields and forests around our cities are artificially constructed to serve our agricultural and economic needs. Strangely, there are also places that are completely artificially designed – but not for humans…

In der Schwebe II

Munich 2023 - Alexander Ratzing & Luca Daumüller

05.12. - 19.12.2023 at the Faculty of Design, Hochschule München

Our project is entitled “In der Schwebe” and deals with the feelings and individual states that arise from being in suspension. Every person floats a little somewhere, is or has been in a transformative phase or in a general limbo between being and non-being. The question now is, where do you feel afloat? Change is omnipresent, whether in everyday private or job life. It accompanies us throughout our lives and ensures that we as humans constantly have to face new challenges. This scares many people, brings uncertainty with it and even causes panic in some. But change can also mean hope for improvement and creates space for new possibilities, ideas and solutions. With our project we want to make this uncertainty visible in society, document fears and hopes and establish connections that ultimately affect us all. In this way we create a feeling of community and connection with which we can look towards the future with hope.

SUPERBOOKS 4

Haus der Kunst, Munich 2023 | We All Go The Same

03.11. - 04.11.2023 Haus der Kunst, Munich

On November 3rd and 4th, over 50 artists, designers and alternative publishers as well as three universities will show their current productions in the Haus der Kunst. In addition to producers from Germany, exhibitors from Spain, Italy, France, Austria, England, Belgium, the Netherlands and South Korea are also represented this year. The participants see themselves in the tradition of the 1960s, when new communication and distribution networks were formed in the post-avant-garde art scene. The products such as artist books, magazines or zines are autonomous works of art. Together with the "Peripheral Landscapes" class and Prof. Dr. Sue Barr, I will present my photo book “We All Go The Same” and sell different 8x10 prints in a limited edition of 10.

Several 30x40 prints as well as the bound book itself were on display. A limited edition of 20 is still available for sale. "We All Go the Same" is an exploration of the unseen. Strange observations of various chapels, churches and other rural places in the bavarian countryside. Dancing shadows on the wall, a glimpse beyond this world. Tales of a dark summer.
